Donna Bonasera is best known in the dance world for training dancers of the highest level technique and her memorial choreography for both the ballet and musical theater stage. Ms. Bonasera maintains a positive relationship with dance professional throughout the United States and abroad. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Connecticut Dance Theatre where she is constantly evolving and developing proper dance training programs based on the Vaganova Method of Classical Dance and Musical Theater based on the teaching of Lee Theodore, founder of American Dance Machine. She received a diploma from the Russian Choreographic Schools in Russia and studied directly with the late Lee Theodore on the preservation of original Broadway choreography and styles of the great Broadway choreographers.
Many students trained under Ms. Bonasera’s tutelage have gone on to professional careers in some of the most distinguished ballet companies throughout the world; as well as featured performers on Broadway, and top executives for Ballet Companies. She has coached trained students for such prestigious ballet competitions as the New York International Ballet Competition, Paris International, Mississippi International, Varna, Bulgaria International, Prix de Lausanne, Switzerland , American Youth Grand Prix and CT Classic Ballet Competition. Ms. Bonasera was the former Associate Director of the Nutmeg Ballet and returns as a frequent guest artist and choreographer along with guest teaching throughout the country. Most recently, she has spent the last two seasons at East Street Ballet, in Hadley Mass., teaching, coaching and choreographing.
