Dr. Eric Brummitt
Eric is a middle school teacher, college professor, and freelance musician. He received his doctorate in music from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Brummitt teaches for Achievement First Hartford Academy Middle School, a public charter school. He teaches general music classes and runs an after school band and drumline program. Additionally, Dr. Brummitt teaches for Goodwin College in East Hartford, CT. Recently, Dr. Brummitt has performed with the Hartford Symphony and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony in Connecticut.
Previously, Dr. Brummitt taught in public schools in Springfield, MA and Manchester, CT. He has also been on the faculties of Spring Arbor University and Albion College in Michigan. Dr. Brummitt’s performance experience includes work with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Kansas and the Kirov Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Russia. He has been a guest artist and clinician at FEMUSC in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil, Chamber Music at the Barn in Wichita, KS, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lakes, MI, and at the Troy University Brass Symposium in Troy, AL. Additionally, Dr. Brummitt has been a guest speaker for the Historic Brass Society and has published articles on the Historic Brass Society’s website and in the Horn Call, the journal of the International Horn Society.
Eric Brummitt lives in Glastonbury, CT with his wife, Michele Prizio, a cello teacher and performer. They have two daughters; Sofia, who is five and studies dance at Ballet Theatre Academy, and Rose, a future ballerina who is two years old.
