Ginny Smith Major, Ph.D., BCC Director Board of Directors
Virginia (Ginny) Major is Director of Learning and Organizational Development at The Connection, one of Connecticut’s largest nonprofit human services agencies. In this role, she is responsible for managing agency-wide learning and development programs, as well as evaluating organizational needs and facilitating change initiatives.
Prior to this role, Ginny worked for almost twenty years as an external leadership and organizational development consultant. In this capacity, she provided customized solutions to Fortune 1000 companies in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, financial services, health and wellness, and manufacturing. In addition, she served as an executive coach to over 150 leaders, ranging from global vice presidents to line managers, including many international executives from Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.
Ginny received her B.A. in sociology, with minors in English and Italian, from Indiana University, with Highest Distinction. She received her doctorate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland. She is a Board Certified Coach through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE). She lives in West Hartford, CT with her husband, Bill, and two daughters: Ava, who loves to sing and act, and Susannah, who is a member of BTC’s Junior Company.
