Sarah McCahill

Ballet and Variation

Sarah McCahill was born and raised in Connecticut where she began her ballet journey at the age of four at Torrington School of Ballet.  The majority of her formative training took place at Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, School of American Ballet, and Miami City Ballet School where she was given the opportunity to learn from an array of distinguished instructors and coaches from all over the globe.

Sarah has worked with companies such as Miami City Ballet, Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami, and with Ballet Theatre Company.  She’s had the honor and privilege to learn from world renowned choreographers and repetiteurs like Justin Peck, Liam Scarlett, and Alexei Ratmansky along with performing ionic works by Twyla Tharp, John Cranko, Jerome Robbins, and Vincent Nebrada.  A few personal favorite Balanchine roles she performed throughout her professional career include Odette, Dark Angel from Serenade, and the Turning Girl from Symphony in Three Movements. McCahill was also featured as the Dew Drop in BTC’s
The Nutcracker and Rubies from Dattallas’ rendition of Aladdin during her time as a resident company member in 2021-22.

She be
gan to discover a passion for passing on the language of dance in 2018 at Woodbury Ballet and since then has been invited to teach masterclasses and variations for the CT Classic Competition, assisted in rehearsals for BTC’s ’22 production of The Nutcracker, coached and mentored dancers in preparation for competitions and summer intensives, and has taught at various local studios over the years.  Her objective is to inspire and help refine the next generation of up-and-coming dancers to reach their optimum potential as artists; building confidence and precision on and offstage and to maintain the love and joy of movement shared collectively. Sarah is thrilled to be a part of BTC’s faculty as an instructor for the ‘23-‘24 season.
