Ballet Theatre Company logo

Within the past quarter-century, Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) evolved from a humble start to become Connecticut’s largest professional ballet organization.

In honor of this milestone, Artistic Director Stephanie Dattellas has curated a performance season designed to appeal to ballet aficionados and first-time performance goers alike. Woven into its history is a rich tradition of innovative artistic “firsts” at BTC. One such "first" was the launch of a paid company of resident dancers in 2021. BTC remains the first and only professional ballet company in Connecticut that pays dancers bi-weekly wages for rehearsing, and performing.

We hope you will join us for this historic season as a donor.

Make dance accessible in our community

Ballet is an art form all too often associated with exclusivity, yet it’s in BTC's mission to ensure that ballet is accessible to everyone. In fact, BTC has been offering community programs for 25 years. Today, the structured Community Enrichment Program, offers various programs tailored to meet community members where they are. This includes children and adults of all ages, abilities and social-economic status through five different programs. Additionally, BTC's professional dancers tour Greater Hartford to bring the art of ballet to libraries, nursing homes, and museums.

Donor Advised Funds

Giving a monetary gift through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is becoming increasingly more popular. A DAF is a giving account established at a public charity. It allows donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction and then recommend grants from the fund over time. Donors can contribute to the fund as frequently as they like, and then recommend grants to their favorite charitable organizations whenever it makes sense for them. If you have a DAF, please consider recommending an annual gift to CFT. Don’t forget – you can use your IRA to donate to charity, too.

IRA Charitable Rollover Donations

The IRA charitable rollover allows taxpayers to make tax-free charitable gifts directly from their Individual Retirement Accounts to eligible charities. Currently, the provision:

Caps qualified charitable IRA distributions at $100,000 per person per year, precludes the funding of gift annuities and similar life income plans and applies only to donors age 70½ or older. A donation to a donor-advised fund (DAF) does not qualify for this new deduction.

Gifts of Stock

Are you interested in making a charitable gift that may yield double tax benefits and additional savings? If so, a gift of appreciated stock may be the right option for you.

A gift of stock may provide more benefits than a cash gift. When you make a gift of stock to Ballet Theatre Company, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting a mission that you care about.
